Inspirational Artist Day
Someone told me to check out Amy Sillman recently and I've been loving her work. I love her use of color and geometric forms. Some of her lines appear as a texture, and she incorporates abstracted figuration and collage. Thesis Work
Lately I have been stressed by my thesis work and all the critiques I have been through recently. My head has been a jumbled mess, and I've been second guessing what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. Art school is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I am now slowly emerging from my funk, and started some new paintings, inspired by Helen Frankenthaler, Grace Hartigan, and my favorite Joan Mitchell. Contemporary Art Center--Unmade Exhibit
For my first blog post--I decided to write about an experience I had last weekend worth sharing. I am a docent at the Cincinanati Contemporary Arts Center and get the chance to come close to the exhibitions that travel through the museum. Last weekend I volunteered to help artist Anne Lindberg with the install of her show. I got to meet her and her husband as the three of us worked in the tedious set up of her amazing site specific work. It was inspirational on many levels
